Book Review: The Power of Moments by Chip and Dan Heath

The Power of Moments:

The Power of Reading this Book with a Pen in Hand

The Heath Brothers have done it again: diagnosing what works and what doesn’t when it come to creating magical moments.

If you’re serious about branding better, boosting customer experiences, or changing mentor results, I urge you to take small bites of this book with a pen in hand. In essence, the entire book is too filling to digest in one setting; instead, ingest the morsel, marinate on how to apply it, and then brainstorm options about you’re going to implement it.

As with their other brilliant books (Made to Stick, Decisions, and Switch), their language is simple, their insight invaluable. They analyze successes to find the secret formula; they also find lessons in failure too or what they call “tripping over the truth.”

Don’t “trip over the truth,” find the lessons in failure. #PowerofMoments Click To Tweet

I remember my own truth when I recognized that coaching for $99 per month + you may cancel at any time didn’t work: I didn’t have enough one-on-one time to make a meaningful difference; clients didn’t respect our time (they were often late or missed their appointments), they didn’t complete the homework, and we didn’t achieve significant results. Coaching was a failure until I introduced my new model.

My coaching program also echoes what Dan and Chip cite as the keys to successful mentoring: High Standards + Assurance + Direction + Support = Enhanced Self-insight. Now, isn’t that a magic formula?

There’s power in these words and observations: it’s up to you to harness its power. Download an excerpt from their book .

(Note: I was given a complimentary pre-publication copy having bought all previous of their other books; I would easily ante up the dollars for the value in these words.)

To your sizzling success!
