But, when he started as Stanley Martin Lieber, he used a pen name because “I felt someday I’d be writing the Great American Novel and I didn’t want to use my real name on these silly little comics,” said Lee.

Lee eventually legally changed his name as have scores of authors, actors, writers, singer and entrepreneurs.
